I arrived in May of 69 and I had the base mascot from May69 to March70

   I was stationed in Phan Rang from March of 1969 to March of 1970. I requested,
 and received the base mascot (a light brown mixed breed dog). He was a
puppy and homeless when I got him, but, was almost full size when I left. I got
 a picture somewhere of him standing on the stage that read "CAN DO, WILL DO".
 He was the only registered base dog during those dates, because only one 
was aloud. I wonder if that was the dog you remembered. It was at the Red 
Horse club area. If I can find the picture of him, I will post it somehow, 
and e-mail you back. I am now a 100% Disabled Veteran too.
