Not legal, but you didn't have the only DOG

From Jim Drever, on Sun, 18 Feb 2001 13:41:34 GMT (in response to: I arrived in May of 69 and I had the base mascot from May69 to March70)

G'day Bruce,

We blokes at Number 2 Squadron R.A.A.F. also had a dog -Illegally. His name was "ASCO", an abbreveation for Australian Services Canteen Orgaisation. The U.S. Air Police used to try and get him, which of course, would have meant a bullet in the head (rabies and all that stuff), however, ASCO was no mug. He must have been able to smell them or something, as every time they appeared, he didn't. To my knowledge, they NEVER ever did get him. GOOD ON YOU DOG!! He was our Mate!

Cheers Mate,

Kindest regards, Jim Drever.

P.S. I also arrived in March '69.
