Butch was a great dog..He was featured in the Air Force Times in 1968 or 1969. He had a flight log and his hours were recorded by the Flight Engineer of whatever plane he flew on.He had the purple heart and a few Air Medals..He knew that the Chain Box was the safest spot on the plane. We moved from TanSon Nhut in June 67 to Phan Rang. We took him to Phan Rang with us...He knew which planes were going to Saigon and occasionally went back to visit his bitches..He would hop off in the middle of no mans land and spend the night. The next day he watched for C 123s with Red Noses to get back to Phan Rang..The 309th Air Commandos really enjoyed that dog.He always had one person that took over "Master" duties but he was his own dog. I'm glad that others remember Butch too..
