Recording/Submission-Upload Location Details:

HOW TO RECORD YOUR TEAM PRESENTATION:  two multiple camera recording options:
1 - via the Microsoft Stream function in MS Teams. Upload finalized video to Launchpad.{into  "Video Assessment - Grp Competitive Campaign Presentations"}

2- via the multiple camera Video Assessment function directly in Launchpad. {into  "Video Assessment - Grp Competitive Campaign Presentations"}

Both options require one person to serve as the "meeting convener/organizer." That person starts the meeting & recording & admits the other team members.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR TEAM PRESENTATION: Video record via LaunchPad – as was done for the F20 Selective1 presentations. You can record directly into LaunchPad or can prerecord & upload it there.

You can record it directly into  the LaunchPad  app or , if you created  a separate videofile of your Presentation ( e,g, via MS Teams) , you can upload that into the same spot.

Note: The Final Template page needs to be submitted in its own slot.

Note: Any slide decks will already be integrated into the video presentation so separate upload is not necessary.

Note:  If you know how & someone has a double monitor set up, you can even try showing the slides as a minimized screen. IN ORDER TO GRADE ACCURATELY, It's most important that the presenters be clearly seen & heard.

RATIONALE & GOALS

As you recall,  in the beginning of the semester, your level of communication skill was assessed by using  a complex oral activity as a

PRE-TEST: The Special Occasion unit. Similarly, this current oral project is complex, multi-faceted and will be used as a pragmatic

"POST-TEST" to assess how far you have come in terms of:

> making content audience-centered,

> using strategic organization,

> having effective delivery techniques (both vocal & physical)

> handling critique & question/answer

For F20 , 50% of the grade for the Final Exam category will come from this team project [ see below for grading rubrics for group grade & individuals' grades.  The other 50% will come from a brief, written, "short answer" test will be used to assess how much you have learned & UNDERSTAND about the material in the textbook [submission via Blackboard]. )

PRESENTATION COMPONENTS & STRUCTURES: step-by-step

It all starts with the partnerships & selected companies used in the WebCam Presentation project.

1. Each WebCam partnership will  merge with another partnership for collaboration on creating this campaign.

-This will result in a total of 3 groups -- each consisting of consisting of 6 members.

-Consider various criteria for selecting your match ups (mutual compatibility, negotiation, similarity of Webcam topics, etc.

-As before, if  necessary, your Professor will intervene to form and/or rearrange group memberships. finalized no later than 11/4

2. Each newly formed team/group will select ONE of their already-analyzed companies.

-It doesn't matter which, but you may want to base your selection on which one  is a better fit for this new task: pitching a new spokesperson.

3.  Imagine your group is a marketing team with the task of  selecting a public figure to serve as the spokesperson for the company  you selected in step 2.

-This person will be the "face" of your selected company--on television commercials, print advertisements, and online promotions .

- Using Dewey’s Reflective Thinking Process {explained in your textbook} , STRATEGIZE & SELECT a celebrity by following this sequence:

     > FIRST consider what kind of image you want the product/company/initiative to portray.

     > THEN, brainstorm,   which "celebrity" possesses appropriate credibility and can create the desired image and convey the right message to your audience.

     > THEN analyze the LOGOS/ETHOS/ PATHOS this selected personality will lend to your company. Your eventual  presentation will be an argument of how your final choice as spokesperson will satisfy the company's needs (Pull out that 2 sided, "Motivated Sequence" worksheet. to be linked to the course calendar . In the meantime, use the version in your textbook/LaunchPad.  You'll need it!!!)

4. As a group, plan a presentational campaign in which you will "pitch" your selected celebrity via a 10 minute persuasive presentation.

-The presentation should clearly apply  Monroe’s Motivated Sequence as well as the guidelines  for persuasive speaking as outlined in the chapter.

- Grading points are allotted based on how effectively & explicitly the persuasion techniques are applied to the team's argument.

- In other words, your team will prepare & deliver a persuasive presentation to an audience of (hypothetical) decision makers.

5.   F'20 alternate peer review procedure:  Each individual in each "mega-team" will be assigned to view & evaluate another group's campaign video. Below is a shortened  version of the  Peer Evaluation Form 2a  . View the other Team's video ( accessible in LaunchPad via same "Video Assessment" slot you used for your upload. -You can think of the listeners' role as being similar to the "Sharks" we viewed.

Fill in the form. Don't forget the "Challenge" question that you would have asked if these had been done live. This question is NOT meant to ask for investment-potential information  but rather will ask for clarification or for challenging the viability of the Team's proposal.  In other words, questioners will apply CRITICAL LISTENING &  COMPREHENSIVE LISTENING in reference to the  presentation's Ethos/Logos/Pathos.

If you want,  you also can notate  whether you would  accept the proposed spokesperson and "green light" the team's proposal (i.e. implement their plan).

PRESENTATION LENGTH

_ 10-12 minutes Full Team Presentation

TOPIC GUIDELINES (summary):

Your group has been given the responsibility of selecting a notable  personality  to serve as the spokesperson for the company  you selected in step 2 above.  This person will be the "face" of your company-- including television commercials, print advertisements, and online promotions. Using Dewey’s reflective thinking process [see textbook] , choose an appropriate  celebrity/public figure. While making your decision, consider what kind of image you want the product/or/company  to portray. Which celebrity possesses appropriate credibility and can create the desired image and convey the right message to your audience?

NB: You can expect questions about your experiences with "Dewey" on the upcoming test & quizzes.

 Peer Evaluation Form2a > Capstone Campaign Presentations - utilize p. 60/1 guidelines -

Each person completes this peer evaluation process separately. Notate your evaluation of the group's presentation [assignments listed below]. Your assessment should be honest and constructive, providing the sort of feedback that you would find helpful if you were the presenter. Your  professor will use your feedback to "evaluate you as an evaluator"  & you will receive 0 to 10 points for this question in the final exam.

Also, these questions will help focus your listening in order to construct your "psuedo-Shark"

S'20 change _ added 3/19/20

Due to this semester's circumstances of converting to totally remote instruction.  I have changed the submission  protocol.

Since longer papers now will be graded 100% online, it’s  much more efficient if you upload them into “Assignments” in Blackboard. Preliminary Planner Template, Final Submission Template & _______________  should be uploaded accordingly. You’ll find the upload location this way: There’s now a “WEBCAM“ link within the “Assignments” folder within the Dr. Plummer’s Course Information section.  EXCEPT for the partner & Company requests, please upload  the longer items  there.

PRESENTATION COMPONENTS & STRUCTURES: step-by-step

It all starts with the partnerships & selected companies used in the WebCam Presentation project..

1. Each WebCam partnership will  merge with another partnership for collaboration on creating this campaign.

-This will result in a total of 4 groups -- each consisting of consisting of 4-5 members.

3.  Imagine your group is a marketing team with the task of  selecting a celebrity/public figure to serve as the spokesperson for the company  you selected in step 2.

-This person will be the "face" of your selected company--on television commercials, print advertisements, and online promotions .

     > THEN, brainstorm,   which "celebrity" possesses appropriate credibility and can create the desired image and convey the right message to

         your audience.

     > THEN analyze the LOGOS/ETHOS/ & PATHOS this selected personality will lend to your company. Your eventual  presentation will be an argument of how your final choice as spokesperson will satisfy the company's NEEDS ( Pull out that 2 sided, "Motivated Sequence" worksheet.

Grading points are allotted based on how effectively & explicitly  the persuasion techniques are applied to the team's argument.

     - Therefore, your team's last task is to prepare & deliver a persuasive presentation to a                    group of (hypothetical) decision makers.

5. For each presentation, 4-5 members of the audience will be pre-assigned as comprehensive and/or  analytical  questioners.

- After a brief Q & A period {only one question per designated questioner} if time the listeners will vote on whether to accept your proposed celebrity spokesperson and "green light" your proposal (i.e. implement your plan).

-You can think of your listeners as being similar to the "Sharks" we viewed.

- HOWEVER, instead of asking follow-up questions relevant to investment potential, the designated listeners will  be assigned to do either CRITICAL LISTENING or COMPREHENSIVE LISTENING in reference to your presentation's Ethos/Logos/Pathos. In other words, questioners will NOT ask  investment-type questions but rather will ask questions for clarification or for challenging the viability of your proposal.
