_III_   {complete 2 items}

re:  Our WARRANT  (supporting rationale)

        This item will be the basis  of your presentation’s argumentation & it has major influence on the success of your “campaign”. Remember that "LOGOS" actually is a 2-part phenomenon.  The supporting data (evidence) that you listed above in step II is only the beginning.  A persuader also needs to provide reasoning (a rationale) that connects the evidence to the claim. In other words, point-by-point, you will prove to us that the listed points of evidence logically lead to the conclusion that ________________ should be spokesperson.  The more skillfully you handle this step, the higher the grade for the presentation.

                 Here's a sample:

claim = Lin-Manuel Miranda would be a great spokesperson for our company.

  evidence = Lin-Manuel Miranda is a playwright  who has received awards both inside and outside of the theater world. /

 warrant = In 2016, a study conducted by (XYZ)  showed that 70% of NJ residents  reported remembering the ideas from award-winning public figures more so than other types of public figures /

 {the connection = Because he possesses a Pulitzer award, a TONY award, a Grammy award, and others, if we use Lin-Manuel Miranda as our spokesperson, we can expect the listeners, especially residents of NJ,  are likely to pay more attention to our company and its products}

  Now, in 1-2 sentences, indicate your planned "warranting" for at least two of the items of evidence on your list above in section II.  In your actual presentation you should include such "proofing" for all of the items of evidence. Reminder: Without citing these specific connections, your presentation will lose points.

re: ETHOS & PATHOS

   * By now, you have seen each other in operation many times-- sometimes as yourselves and sometimes portraying specific communicator roles (similar to what you are doing for this presentation). Your current role is “promoter & persuader”).

 What is one factor (either individually or as a team) that your group can utilize to maximize your believability (i.e.ETHOS) for this presentation & topic in the minds of THIS audience who now knows you so well?

       >_

   * Throughout this semester, you have analyzed this  audience, and you now have an understanding of  the beliefs, knowledge and biases of the listeners in this class. What are some of the emotional/psychological dynamics (i.e. PATHOS elements) that are likely to influence the thinking of these people in THIS class? What are the needs, wants, & desires that seem to motivate their choices?
