Protest

Maybe, maybe not.

From Old soldier., on Wed, 27 Oct 1999 19:18:32 GMT (in response to: Get your stories straight, Holly!)

I was in the 75th RCT "Merrill's Marauders" that almost became the first people into Vietnam, but my particular group never quite made it there, fortunately. But it made me quite a student of that war. I notice that you only give the names of Republicans when describing who was responsible. Nixon, apparently primarily, but actually Kennedy got us into the war and Johnson was its main prosecutor. Nixon was the one who actually got us out of it. I do not follow the party line but I detect that you follow only the party line, which pretty much eliminates the possibility for serious debate with you. I'm a semi-conservative but did vote for Kennedy against Nixon since I didn't like Nixon from the moment I first saw him perform. But again, he's the one that got us out of Vietnam, and you rail against him and avoid mentioning the Democrats who were probably more responsible for getting us into that War. That shows an inflexible mentality, or perhaps a payroll spokesman.

In any event, regarding Jane Fonda, it would indeed be a miscarraige if she were accused of doing things she did not do. But you say she did not do anything wrong on purpose, and she did sit in an anti-aircraft gunner's position and pretend to be shooting down American planes, and that was wrong, and that was done on purpose.

But regarding Colonel Corrigan, I would be curious to know if there ever was a prisoner of war named Colonel Larry or Lawrence Corrigan. What is described therein is something so completely horrible that one has to believe that it can't be true, although I've heard it a number of times before. Someone should look his name up on POW's lists and either verify it or put it forever to rest.
