The promotion of war

From chuck anderson, on Tue, 25 May 1999 17:40:53 GMT (in response to: Read before you fight)

Don't let the media influence your feelings about war. Its about construction contracts, corporate welfare and seeing who in the war colleges are going for their one-two-three stars. The mendacity of our pr machines are alive and well. First, don't forget...Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm all have finite reasons for sending the naive ones to combat. Remember that most of the viet vets had brothers, uncles, fathers who fought in WWII and Korea. Hell, it was more pressure from family and playing the gung-ho warrior than really believing we were over their to save the self-serving,corrupt government and people by the late 1960's. Add Hanoi Jane and her husband, the complete media mogul and our beloved press keeps spinning what they fail to research in our pablum fed news. Next time, DONT GO.
