Why We Didn't Lose Viet Nam.

From R. Neuber, on Sun, 10 Nov 1996 05:09:29 GMT (in response to: Reason Why We Lost)

Our goal in Southeast Asia was to stop Communism. The "Domino Theory" was taken serious. However if we wanted to fight communism we could have gone 90 miles off our own coast, to clean-up Cuba. I think the Viet Nam war had another purpose. Jobs and the economy. When you think of the number of "Baby Boomers" getting ready to enter the job market. What better way to create jobs at home and pospone those in the military from entering the job market? Not to mention four years more of the G.I. Bill that kept them out of the job market. I served with the 1st Marine Div. as a combat photographer in Viet Nam, and we had to chase the enemy down for any confrontation. If Viet Nam won, their economy lost. As a nation we just got tired and we decided to go home.
