Assignment Rationale-

Presentation goals in the professional world tend to be much more varied and complex than simply Informative or Persuasive. This round of presentations (actually = two speeches) gives you the opportunity to work on your adaptive presentational skills in two different presentational contexts selected out of a list of five [options listed below] . You should select the two types that are most relevant to your current or anticipated future needs.

 The End Products

You will be doing TWO "Selective"  presentations - Each = 4-5 minute . One will be self recorded into LaunchPad: "Video Assessment: Selective #1. T  The other will be delivered live, in-person during the designated class session. You also need to decide if either of your presentations would benefit from use of a presentation/visual aid.  Consider using a relevant presentation aid for one of your selected speeches [note: you are required to incorporate some type of presentation aid at least once this semester and at least one of those times should be via PowerPoint {Note: LaunchPad will prompt you to convert it to a PDF}].   [Prezi is not recommended for this semester].

Each presentation will be graded by the Professor based on the quality content, delivery, speaker's outline. For grading criteria, see the basic grading rubric for an extemporaneous presentation.   You also have the benefit of getting Peer Review Feedback on the Selective #1 . The quality of the peers' insights also will be used for evaluating the Peer Reviewer for the Selective #1 portion of this assignment.

Since you are making your own choice about which two(2) of these presentations to deliver in class & which to present as a video speech, you should also research what is needed for that particular type of speech you've selected (out of the 5 options) & how it should be structured. Start with your textbook's guidelines but expand your search to other public & presentational resources. Such reference items should be listed in your speech's bibliography which should be placed at the end of your submitted speaker's outline.

Your Five Options for Presentation Types
