So far I see this site as a learning experience. Being an American born in 1977, I am too young to have memories on the subject. The pictures I see here give me the clues I need to better understand what am not old enough to know personally. The images are all signs to me that on this day, at this place, at this time, reality happened.
I have to dispute the comments of those who consider these pictures in any way distasteful. When I look at a persons face, I can see the person behind it. I study the eyes to see the soul and heart. I glance at the mouth to see the pride. I look at the brow to see the intelligence. Everyone's face has a story to tell. Seeing the people in these pictures tell me a lot.
I must admit that I have only been recently interested in Vietnamese history. Soley because I am to be married to a Vietnamese woman. She was a grade school student during the time of the war. She sometimes tells me about her experience in her country. She has told me many stories. Seeing the pictures here reinforce what she has told me.
I must say that the pictures I see here are proof that beauty is everywhere. Even in time of war.
Thanks to all who contributed. I feel that I have learned a lot.
And to those who submit hateful messages filled with obsenity. If you had half the respect for the curious minds that seek hints of knowledge from this site. You all would realize how closed minded you are.
