Military

Real Real Real Reason

From TD, on Wed, 05 Jun 1996 00:43:07 GMT (in response to: The REAL REAL reason why we lost the war.)

We lost the war because we were there for the wrong reasons. We thought that we could throw the weight of our vast military might and the NVA and VC would crumble. We forget our Patriots who fought in the American Revolution. They laid their lives on the line for their country and freedom. The communist forces did not believe in having another foreign power telling them how to run their country. I once heard someone say that even if the Vietnamese chose a political system (communism) that many considered evil; at least they were the ones to make the choice. I was a young man when I served in an infantry unit in the Americal Division. I saw many things which Americans did that would surprise and disappoint Americans back home. When I returned home, I thought of the bravery of not only the Americans I served with, but also the VC and NVA units I fought against. May God bless the families of all the soldiers who died and sacrificed in Vietnam.
