For those reading, this man got it right. We had a chance in the late 40's and early 50's to turn Vietnam into a democracy: in fact the Vietnames Constitution is a replica of the US Constitution. Too bad we sided with our "ally" the French. Far too many "too bads" here. As a Vietnamese linguist, I gained a unique perspective of the North Vietnamese people and their way of thinking. Most were more Nationalist than Communist. The Viet-Cong were even more so. They just wanted their rice fields back without the corruption of the South Vietnamese government, which the US perpetuated. We all lost many people, we all were brave, but now it's time to look forward, only looking back to reflect on our mistakes with a resolve not to repeat them. And of course, to say a brief hello to our comrades.
