Sky Crane

From John Brittain, on Fri, 26 Apr 1996 19:46:47 GMT

Thanks for sharing these pictures.
I flew on the Sky Crane as a Flight Engineer/Crew Chief in
1968, logged close to 1500+ hours flight time, and saw so
much pain and suffering. The picture of the Sky Crane coming
in with a re-supply load shows the living conditions (imagine
it with rain) the infantry had to deal with. We used to have
rocks thrown at us because of the amount of wind we'd create
during a drop - blowing down tents, sending clothes flying,
and creating dust-storms that coated everything/everyone.
Sometimes we'd make a drop in the evening and come back the
next morning to burned-out APCs, dead bodies, and dazed looks.
My respect for these soldiers will never die.
