Friends... Going back...

From John Hunczak (Phu Lam), on Fri, 17 Jan 1997 17:17:25 GMT (in response to: WOULD LIKE INFO TO GO BACK NEXT YEAR)

Doug, I know what you mean. I work with about 30 guys and a few women in an agricultural seed selling business. Only three of us were in the service. One National Guard, one was in Germany. I'm the only one in the organization who was in Viet Nam. A lot of them were dodgers. No hard feelings, bur nobody has a clue what it was like. Some of the best people I've ever met were in Nam. I'd like to see them again. I don't know where to start. I've thought, too, about going back. I'd like to do some good. I'm an agronomist. I work with farmers. Sometimes I think I could be of some use over there. I remember how GREEN is was! It SMELLED green! Doug, if you ever get a chance to go into a green house in the middle of the winter, do it. Be prepared for some memories. The memory can really be jogged by what the nose smells. John Hunczak Spec 4 Phu Lam
