Dr. A. D. Amar is Professor of Management (strategy, policy and knowledge).  He holds BS (India) and MS (MSU) degrees in engineering, an MBA (Baruch College), and a Ph.D. in Business (CUNY).  He has published over 75 works in various journals and periodicals, such as Production and Inventory Management Journal, IIE Transactions, Computers & Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Production Research, European Journal of Innovation Management, and the Mid-Atlantic Journal of Business. He has also published a book, titled Managing Knowledge Workers: Unleashing Innovation and Productivity (Westport, CT: Quorum Books, 2002), on managing knowledge organizations, in particular their human resource aspect.

Dr. Amar has worked and consulted in general management, productivity enhancement, and operations and strategy areas for a number of organizations. He has trained managers for federal, state, and city governments, and for private companies.  In addition to lecturing at many technical conferences almost all over the world, Dr. Amar has instructed business and public managers in Russia, Poland, the United Kingdom and India in addition to the United States. 

He has been invited to chair many professional conference sessions and was a plenary speaker at the 2002 European Knowledge Management Forum in London, UK.  Dr. Amar is a member of INFORMS, Academy of Management, and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Dr. Amar is married.  He and his wife (Sneh) have two sons.  Both their sons and Sneh are Seton Hall alumni.
