The Walsh Library was completed in 1994 as a
state-of-the-art center of learning. The four-story
facility is more than twice the size of previous McLaughlin
Library and features spacious study facilities, an
exhibit gallery and a domed rotunda that can be seen
from all points on campus. The new library rivals those of
the nation's top universities and accommodates all the
latest technology available in computerized information
retrieval and referencing.
Using Virtual Reality, you
can actually enter the library, or
check the on-line
card catalog if your computer has Telnet installed.
Seton Hall has just established a Center for Academic
Technology (CAT) to assist faculty in using information
technology in the classroom.
The CAT has also designed this virtual tour, and of course you can
use virtual reality to enter
one of the CAT rooms yourself.
The Computing Services Division of the University, through the Office of Academic Computing, provides all University students and faculty with hands-on access to computers. A student computing center is maintained in Corrigan Hall and is one of many labs available on campus. The Corrigan Computer Labs include IBM and IBM-compatible machines.
Regularly scheduled seminars build beginning and advanced user skills at no cost and are open to Seton Hall students, alumni, staff, faculty and parish members.
Beside the standard software such as WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3, there are graphics and Windows packages available for use. In addition, there is access to electronic mail, the Internet and statistical packages.
