Soulful Pics

From Layne, on Sat, 17 Jun 2000 22:19:27 GMT (in response to: Exploitation can exist thru the lense of a camera)

As some of the people responding would say, I'm a white trash but the pictures were wonderful. Are not the Vietnamese taught ro honor gray hair and wrinkles. Of all te pictures of my deceased father, the one I treasure most was taken when he was well over 80 as it shows a lifetime of pain, anguish, disappointment yet unconditional love, forgiveness and wisdom. The aged people of Vietnam are lovely and they look so kind. How I wish I could speak that language and speak with those in the pics. Imagine the stories they could tell and the lessons they could teach. The one who took these pictures was attempting to honor his subjects, not humiliate or exploit. The future of the young lies in the wisdom and the strength which can be imparted to them by the old. I think I understand the motives of this photagrapher and I'm actually quite surprised at the insecurity voiced by his critics.
