While I am by no means an expert on the situation during the Vietnam War, I am currently completing a seminar on the war at Grinnell College. I do not claim to know everything about relationships between GIs and Vietnamese women, however I do think you should entertain the idea that it is possible that love could exist between them. I agree that many GIs took advantage of Vietnamese women or enjoyed their services, however there are also many documated instances in which GIs and Vietnamese women lived together harmoniously. Though you may be angry with what happened in Vietnam (I certainly am appalled), please do not close off avenues for possible reconciliation.
