From Bruce Pritchett, on Wed, 28 Jul 1999 00:28:39 GMT (in response to: Duty at Phan Rang Air Base)
I arrived at Phan Rang in January 1966 - my first assignment, along with four others, was to guard the Buu-Son Terminal adjacent to the temporary runway. We lived in a squad tent adjacent to the terminal. The 101st Airborne also flew out of there to forward areas. There were also Vietnamese civilian aircraft flying in and out of the terminal. One of the guys I was assigned with, A1C Clarence Schofield, received the Airman's Medal for an act of heroism at the terminal while we were there.
