Protest

Our Country

From Megan , on Fri, 19 Feb 1999 01:55:09 GMT (in response to: about "draft dodgers")

I find it very wrong that someone would not step up and fight for their country. These boys that burned the draft cards didn't think anything of their freedom to protest the war...It was so often taken for granted. We were fighting in Vietnam against communisum. I think that if these boys had put themselfs in the place of all those unfortunate people in Vietnam they would have seen that they were fighting for the oppressed. While it is true that they could have died; it would have been a selfless deed in fighting for others freedom. We, as Americans, have not only the strongest Military, but also the right to criticize our government, and enjoy about every freedom imagined. Who are we to stand by while someone in a developing country is stripped of these rights that we consider to be basic human rights?
