Are you the only one who thinks this? No, you're not. Many people think the way you do. Often they think that way because they are too young to have been there, and don't understand the times, or they don't take the trouble to educate themselves and think the issue through completely. I was drafted in spite of the fact that I am homosexual, and I told them so. And they drafted me anyway. I told them so because I felt it was my duty, just as I felt it was my duty to go when I was called. I didn't realize until I was already there how wrong the war was. Blaming the vets for losing the war is simplistic thinking. Blame that on the government who got us into the war and didn't support us while we were there and didn't get us out gracefully when it was clearly a lost cause. I don't particularly want your thanks for going to Vietnam. I'd kind of like to just foget it. But it won't go away.
