Protest

Dear "Son"

From Joe N., on Sun, 29 Oct 2000 22:19:12 GMT (in response to: you miss the point)

I couldn't care less that your father lectures you on what a hero he was in "the 'Nam," and feeds you the illusions necessary to that fiction.

I do take umbrage, _boy_, with your presuming to lecture me about "what it was like" during those times. I remind you: you were not yet born. I'm probably you father's age.

It isn't I who is pissing the point; it is _you_. And you are missing it because your father is _denying_ it: there was _no honor in partocipating in the immoral, illegal, racist_ US involvement in Viet Nam. "Following orders?" That excuse didn't work for Hitler's Nazis.

Save me your revisionist fantiasies: I was there, then. The difference is that I, unlike your father, didn't make the wrong decision.

  1. If you're going to bother to respond, Joe, make it worth reading! Steve (skwojo@hotmail.com), Tue, 31 Oct 2000 02:43:17 GMT
