I am interested in what conditions Carter placed on returned draft dodgers regarding their citizenship rights. i.e. voting, public assistance, health care, etc. once they returned under his clemency agreement. Also, how these people were received into the general community, especially by those who were directly or indirectly involved in the military activity. (assuming that most Americans were touched by the war effort this would probably be a high percentage of the community.) What were their job prospects like etc.? My interest is in what someone would be coming back *to* after returning "voluntarily" from self-imposed exile under this clemency act. I would love to have first hand experiences. Being Canadian, I have no idea what happened to the friends I once knew who returned and what their lives were like. Nobody ever talks about *them*. I can get NOTHING from govt sources. Anne
