The vietnam war could have been avoided 3 times I do not have enough time to explain everything, But I will hit the high lights. Vietnam could have been a Free democratic society without a bullet ever being fired for its independence over the brutal french rule. Most people do not know but Ho chi Minh lived in america for a little while and he loved our countries idea on government. However President Wilson refused to see at the peace talk at the end of world war 1. Ho chi minh asked to see him but was not granted the permission. So, Wilson fourteen point of light was for White europeans only and that woudl have been the first time. The next time was world war II before President Roosevelt died he had staated that the french were piss poor rulers and the vietnam should govern itself. He died and then President truman decide to fight Communism. He did not listen to Roosvelts adivsor or the CIA agents who wokred there with Ho during World war II. (Note it was not the CIA then it was called something else and I have not woke up all the way I am still drinking coffee). Ho chi minh was communsit because they helped him help his people when everyone else did not want too. I would believe we americans would too, in order to beat off a brutal colonist government. Then of course after the French Indochina war and the french were defeated at diem something or the other, the new United nations peace accords agreed to two seperate countries with a general election within I believe it was 3 years or so. Then President Eisenhower found out by polling that Ho chi Minh would when so the general elections never took place. The American evolvement takes place. So, that is that, study it for yourself read plenty before deciding. Another reason Vietnam is struggling is we had sanciations against them. (please forgive spelling I am in a rush Wife calling). The american people can never understand the vietnamse culture until they study their history and then their present. My wifes side of the family says it was a war between the north and south and america supported the south. She does not like what I write on this subject but I have wrote several papers on this topic. She is to emotional because she lived through it and I never did.
