America is a large nation whose people come from all regions of the world. We are not a nation whose citizenry is composed of one people with one religion and one culture as are many smaller nations. Rape is not our national pastime. Rape does occur here in America, as it does in all nations of the world, but I can't remember feeling as if it were a national destiny, so to speak.
One only needs be aware of the rape and slaughter of the Cham people by the present day Vietnamese to state that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
During the three years I spent in Vietnam as a member of the US Armed forces, I never witnessed any such activity. The intimate company of thousands of young Vietnamese women were publically and privately available throughout Vietnam for the price of a few dollars or a can of hair spray. Sex was a commodity offered, controlled and capitalized by Vietnamese citizens, often the immediate family members of the prostitute.
