Montagnards

DUSTOFF 30 @ Pat Smith's 25 Dec 1967

From Jon A. Dienlin, on Mon, 23 Feb 2004 17:38:43 GMT (in response to: Christmas 1967 at Doc Smith's hospital)

I was at the Pat Smith's Hospital on the 25th and RON until the next day. We'd flown in 200 pounds of canned Turkey-loaf, other foods stuffs and medical supplies. I have some pictures from that day.... When I finish up-loading into a slide show, I'll put them on the WEB. There were two wounded NVA that had made their way into her hospital even though she treated all who came she primarily served the Mountain People (Vietnamese Hospitals would not treat Yards). I told Pat that the NVA wasn't a problem; the SF guy with us said the same thing -as far as we were concerned her hospital was off-limits to the war. However, the Communists saw different by attacking the hospital a few days later! They threw a Satchle charge into the room I had just left.
