THANK YOU!!!!! I was on active duty during the beginning of our involement in SEA. South Viet Nam was covered under the SEATO agreements by a Sub-Agreement to the original SEATO Agreement. They were not an original member of that organization but as the "domino theory" was the main stream thought of the day, asian nations wanting protection joined SEATO. Just think of the countries that sent combat forces there. They were ALL SEATO members. A member of SEATO said they were being torn apart by in-fighting that was being promoted & supplied by outside forces. They requested SEATO's help, thus we went in, small at first, then large after the smaller forces were attacked. It is a very simple answer to the whole question of how we got in, but many opponents of the war made it into some diobolical scheme instead. I later participated in the "SouthEastAsia War Games" myself, and am not a loonie, baby killer, & etc.. Might have Agent Orange problems tho (minor I hope). Thanks for someone else mentioning the SEATO thing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers the truth. JimL
