Brief summary of life ( mostly communist historical facts).

Born May 19, 1890 in the village of Kiem Lien, Nghe An Province, northern Annam ( now northern Vietnam )as Nguyen Tat Thanh. Fled country ( from the Nha Rong Wharf, Saigon ) and visit many countries, including the US and a French Merchant Marine Vessel in 19ll. Present to the Versaille Treaty at the end of WWI a declaration to the rights of all man ( precursor to the Vietnamese Declaration of Independance ). However was very much ignored. He was a member of the French Socialist Party. On February 3, 1930 formed the Indochinese Communist Party. Driven from Vietnam by the French Secret Police. Return to Vietnam on or around 1940's and for the VietMinh ( league for the independance of Vietnam ) under the new alias of Nguyen Ai Quoc ( Nguyen the Patriot ). During WWII he once again changed his name to what is now Ho Chi Minh ( he who enlightens). During WWII, a trade deal with the OSS ( precursor to the CIA) arms for military info of Japanese. On Sept. 2, 1945, Japanese formal surrender, Ho declared the birth of the Democratic Rep. of Vietnam. December, 1946 began the war against the French. Franch was defeated on May 7, 1954 and Geneva Agreement followed partitioning Vietnam at 17th parallel, pending reunification elections in 1956. This event never took place and resulted in the second Indochina War ( US envolvement ). War lasted until April 30, 1975, however Ho never lived to see his country reunified and at peace, he died on September 2, 1969 ( exactly 24 years after the birth of the Democratic Republic of vietnam. His last New Years Poem to his people in 1969, in no uncertain terms encourage his people to fight on "fight the US to fled and fight destroy the puppet regime"...
