Wipe your tears

From the perspective of a Vietnamese woman, I have to tell you that your description of Viet Nam and its culture as "heartbreakingly sad" and "extremely beautiful" bothered me. I would like to know how and why these images are both sad and beautiful to you. This post-colonialist attitude implies feelings of pity. Was this your intention? If so, I can assure you that Vietnamese people, kids especially, have much to be happy and grateful for. The poverty of the country and it's challenging past have only strengthened and illuminated the people. We are very proud.
