"Fighting for Peace" is like "Fucking for Chastity"

From Phu Lam, SIGSUPA '71-'72, on Mon, 10 Mar 1997 17:46:04 GMT (in response to: Fight for world peace)

In the 1960's I remember hearing, "Fighting for Peace is like Fucking for Chastity!" Perhaps the greatest paradox of the 1960's is the one thing that helped define the decade: the anti-war demonstrations, particularly those that were non- peaceful. The self-contradicting antilogy of burning college buildings and blowing up Selective Service Centers was at the very least poor form, and self-defeating role modeling, and at the worst it was murderous, destructive violence in it's worst form: vigilante mob recklessness. The effete, self- congratulatory attitude of many "peace fighters" obscured the fact that they were behaving like spoiled children, and that their actions resulted in nothing positive. They might as well have been "chastity fuckers" for all the good they did. Their violent behaviour was no better than the violence they claimed to be fighting, and their actions did NOT shorten the war. They only made it more miserable for those of us who were over there.

No, Viktor (is the "k" your choice? Does it mean the same thing as the "k" in Amerika some assholes insist on using?) No, Viktor, one can not "Fight for Peace" any more that he might be able to promote chastity by screwing his balls off. Peace, like love, is something that happens. Peace is not an action. It is the result we may achieve when we all quit fighting. And it doesn't matter whether we are fighting for peace or oil, it's all violent. As long as Viktor fights for peace, there can be no peace.
