The idea, Chief, is that, although I'm sure you are a dedicated historical buff on this subject, I don't think you've "been there", as we say. Yes, you're critical thinking skills are evident, and I appreciate your views, but my point to you is that "the war" isn't a political arena for those who roamed the paddies and jungles, highlands and deltas..far from it. (As far as the USAF was from it in all apsects...flying at FL350 or working it from an air conditioned palace far from the daily threats and occurances of "real" incoming (in the form of .30 cal bullets!) Not to infer, however, that you fellows didn't "contribute" (isn'tt that the way all those AFCM< MSM< AFAM citations read?) to the "effort"; rather that your part in the war was clearly different.
