From Dinh Thi Phuc, on Sun, 06 Jul 1997 22:40:19 GMT (in response to: The TRUE reason why America COULD NOT win in Viet Nam !!!)
I think Sang is right when he says that the US could not win because the Vietnamese fought for the freedom of our land. The drive for freedom is a VERY powerful thing. You might notice that colonialism has collapsed throuhgout the world because human beings have a strong desire to be free from foreign rule. We, the Vietnamese people fought for our freedom, and would have continued to do so until we won it. Eventually, Vietnam would have been free, America or no, it was just a matter of when. I, as a former VC, do not hold that my actions were just, but in a war, whose are? The desire for freedom, however, was simply a stronger motive than whatever compelled the Americans.
