As time goes on, many people actually do learn from the mistakes that were made. America learned from Vietnam, how not to turn thier backs (Desert Storm). I can't help but to wonder if it would have had the same outcome had Desert Storm turned out like Vietnam did. War is a sad thing. It's unfortunate that it happens. Some people enjoy it, others do not, however ALL people must unite to support those who are there. Good or bad, it happens. Both sides lose. Both sides do evil things. Right or wrong, it's the HUMAN way. Not the "American" nor the "Vietnamese" way. I am sorry for the Vietnamese who died in vietnam, amends are trying to be made. Many people (mostly Vets) are going back trying to help rebuild villages. However, my heart does belong to my fellow Americans. I am very proud to be an American. Whereas I do not understand the Vietnamese culture, and know not why they did the things they did, I do not expect the Vietnamese to understand ours. My heart breaks for our fallen soldiers. They were doing thier duties. My heart breaks for the families of the lost, the survivors of the war and for their families also. Mostly my heart breaks for how our Men were treated upon returning, and that it seems even 20 odd years later, the right things are still not being discussed. It's unfortunate that people say hateful things to each other and forget that THEY weren't there. I don't think "why" is should be the question anymore. There is no answer. This is the time to cherish, respect, love, honour and most of all REMEMBER our Vietnam Vets. Thanks guys (and gals), I love you for what you did, and Welcome Home.
