Designing a Web Site with Java and Java Script

[The Task List

In this project-oriented class we will install a complete web server, including CGI scripts, search tools, and Java applications. All meetings will take place at the Center for Academic Technology (CAT) in Alfieri Hall. Class meetings for our project are:

June 4: Unix Tools, HTML Basics,
Httpd Server Installation
June 11: Introduction to Java and
Java Script Programming
June 22: Writing Server-Client programs in
the Java language
June 6: Discussions of topics covered so far,
common errors, task list, and error list.
June 13: Discussions of topics covered so far,
common errors, task list, and error list.
June 29: Discussions of topics covered so far,
common errors, task list, and error list.

In addition, there will be 2 hours of virtual group meetings per week, using Netscape Chat software. The exact dates and times will be discussed during the first meeting.

It is necessary for each participant to have a PPP, Slip, or hardwired connection to the Internet and the necessary software to establish a basic connection. All other software can be downloaded by clicking here.

The class is split into the following four groups:

Web Masters:
Responsible for setting up and maintaining the Web Server.
Developers:
Responsible for installing and maintaining software such as CGI scripts, search tools, and java applications
Designers:
Responsible for graphical elements and overall look of each page
Accountants:
Responsible for maintaining a log of events, costs; collect all reports and produce final document
