A Brief History of Italy and the Vigorito surname.

The letter V from Pliny's Natural History- Woman preparing Fish People have populated the Italian Peninsula ever since we humans evolved from our hominid ancestors over 500,000 years ago.  Italians most likely originated from  these indigenous people as well as from groups that came to the boot-shaped peninsula from Greece, Asia Minor and many other places.  While it is difficult, if not impossible, to determine the ancient origins of any extant family, the possible roots of origin can be narrowed down if one knows the family history as well as the history of the lands that their ancestors inhabited.  Fortunately, quite a bit is known about the history of the Italic and non-Italic people who inhabited the Italian peninsula. The Vigorito families originate from the Campania Region of Italy. This area of Italy has a long and  ancient history.  Indeed, the town of Corleto Monforte, which many Vigoritos come from, was founded during pre-Roman times.
