8. Congratulations!
You have successfully entered a LearningSpace class.
9. In most LearningSpace classes, your work
assignments will appear in the Schedule. Your professor may post lecture notes,
assignments, discussion topics, or quizzes in the schedule. In this class I will be using
LearningSpace for Quizzes only. All quizzes are available through the Schedule.
- To get to the Schedule, click on the Schedule icon on the "welcome page." Now
you will see the course Schedule. The schedule is usually organized by Modules. Some
professors prefer to use Units or Weeks, but other than the terminology everything else is
the same.
- Each module contains a set of one or more activities. In this course each module
contains one Quiz. You will see a triangular twistie next to each module name. Click on
the twistie to see the activities contained in any module.
- Activities with due dates display the due dates to the right of the assignment topic.
- To take a Quiz click on the blue twistie next to a Module to
reveal the link for the Quiz. The chapter 1 quiz, for example, will be listed as
"Chapter 1" under Module 1. When you click on the chapter name a
"Start" button will appear. Click on the "Start" Button to
begin the Quiz. After you answer the first question by selecting the desired
choice click on the "next question" button
. When you are finished
answering ALL the questions click on the "submit answers" button
.The quizzes are usually graded 24-48
hrs later.
10. Finding your graded assessments and assignments

You can find your graded
assignments and assessments by looking at your Portfolio. To open your portfolio,
follow these steps.
Click on the Profiles database icon from the navigation bar at the left of your
computer screen. The Profiles icon is the rightmost one, and looks something like a
newspaper.
Now click on the Portfolio button.
A list of your graded work will appear. Click on an item to find your grade and
instructor comments.
For Assignments, a hyperlink will be available so that you can refer back to the
instructions for the assignment. A separate hyperlink will lead to your work.
For Quizzes, a list of the quiz items, your answers, the correct answers, and
explanations will appear.
Troubleshooting Accessing Your Course
Problem: I get the password box, but
when I enter my SHU Webmail ID and password, I get a message "Authorization Failed.
Retry?"
Solutions:
- Many classes contain multiple sections. Make sure that you accessed the correct section
of your class.
- Make sure that you entered your password correctly. It will be the same as your Webmail
password.
- If you are having problems with your SHU Notes userid (e.g., your userid was created
with an incorrect spelling), you may also have problems getting into LearningSpace. Make
sure that your instructor is aware of your userid problems. When your userid problem is
cleared up, let your professor know so that he or she can ask to have you re-entered into
the LearnignSpace class.
- If you do not have a Seton Hall e-mail account, you will not be able to access
LearningSpace. Contact the Help Desk (x2222) for information about obtaining an e-mail
account.
- It is possible that you have not yet been given course access. This can happen if you
added the course or switched sections after the term started; it can also happen if your
name was entered incorrectly into the LearningSpace class. Let your instructor know that
you are having this problem. Your instructor will then contact CAT with a list of students
who cannot access his or her class. Students should not contact CAT directly, but
should ALWAYS go through their professors.
