Module 1        Jan 9 – Group Meeting

·        Read PBL Chapter 1

·        Select your topic and project

·        Develop detailed Description of Audience (See samples on Website) (2 Pages)

·        Locate an online inventory to help you determine student learning styles

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 1/13

 

Module 2        Jan 16 – Group Meeting (Bring 3 copies of topic, learning styles inventory, and audience description to class.)

·        Read PBL Chapter 2

·        Develop Outline for Unit Plan (Number of lessons in unit is your choice)

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by  1/20

 

Module 3        Jan 23 Group Meeting (Bring 3 copies of Outline for Unit to class)

·        Read PBL Chapter 3

·        Develop lesson plan 1

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 1/27.

 

Module 4        Jan 28

·        Read PBL Chapter 4

·        Complete lesson plan 1

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 2/3.

 

Module 5        Feb 6 – Group Meeting (Bring 3 copies of Lesson plan 1 to class)

·        Read PBL Chapter 5

·        Create a timeline for your project based on Chapter 5

·        Develop technology/products for lesson plan1

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 2/10.

 

Module 6        Feb 13

·        Read PBL Chapter 6

·        Fine tune lesson plan 1

·        Fully develop lesson plan 2

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 2/17

 

Module 7        Feb 20

·        Read PBL Chapter 7

·        Develop technology products for lesson plan 2

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 2/24

 

Module 8        Feb 27 – Group Meeting (Bring 3 copies of lesson plan 2 and all new technology products to class)

·        Read PBL Chapter 8

·        Discussion of Assessment tools in class

·        Fine tune lesson plan  2

·        Continue to develop technology/products for lesson plan 2

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 3/2.

 

Module 9        March 5

·        Read PBL Appendix A

·        Fine tune Unit Plan

·        Develop an assessment tool for your presentation and project

·        Combine all your products into an integrated presentation on a Website or a PowerPoint slide presentation.

·        Save all data to a DVD or a CD.

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 3/9.

 

Module 10      Mar 12 - Group Meeting (Bring 3 copies of your assessment tool)

·        Read PBL Appendix B

·        Combine all your products into an integrated presentation on a Website or a PowerPoint    slide presentation.

·        Save all data to a DVD or a CD.

·        Fine tune assessment tool

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 3/16

 

Module 11      Mar 19

·        Develop tool to assess your unit

·        Practice this week with equipment and materials

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) on Teacherweb by 3/30.

 

Easter Vacation Mar 26

 

Module 12      April 2 – WEDNESDAY Group Meeting (Bring 12 copies of assessment tool and completed project to class)

·        Rehearsal of presentations – Present to peers

·        Formative assessment by peers 

·        Reflect and make modifications of  project based on assessments

·        Tonight’s presenters - Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) based on assessments and changes on Teacherweb by April 13.

 

Module 13      April 9 – Group Meeting (Bring multiple copies of assessment tool and completed project to class)

·        Tonight’s presenters - Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) based on assessments and changes on Teacherweb by April 20.

·        Perfect your presentation

·        Prepare 2 binders containing your Unit, lesson plans, rubrics, user’s guide, technology products and assessment tool for the Review panel. Put 1 complete copy of your  journal into one of the binders.

 

Module 14      April 16

·        Mount journal reflection (2-page min.) based on the entire PBL development process that you have just experienced on Teacherweb by April 21.

·        Perfect your presentation

·        Prepare 2 copies of your Unit, lesson plans, rubrics, user’s guide, technology products and assessment tool for the Review panel. Put 1 copy of your complete journal into one of the binders.

 

Module 15      April 22 & 23 – Individual Presentations

·        Presentation of Projects

·        Summative Assessment by faculty.

 All work due (Binders and Journals) by April 30.  Any project not turned in by this date will receive a grade of “Incomplete.”

            Journal due on Teacherweb every week (See Syllabus)
