News from Physics Department: (June 2008)

Dr. Mitra Feizabadi will join  the Physics Department Faculty in Fall 2008.  She is specialized in Bio-physics will be an excellent contribution to our faculty

 ----

Timothy Kurp  (senior) has been accepted to Summer Research Internship Program at Evans Analytical Group (Worldwide Leader in Materials Characterization) for Summer 2008

 -------

Marc Aranguren (Junior) has been accepted to NorthWestern University Summer Research Internship Program for Summer 2008

 Dear Dr. Sahiner,

We would like to thank you for recommending Marc Aranguren to the REU

program at Northwestern University. Marc has accepted our offer and will

be conducing research at the Materials Research Center this summer. We had

424 applicants for only 16 positions, and recommendations played a key

part in the admissions decision. We are looking forward to having Marc

here this summer and are sure he will have a great time.

 Sincerely,

Klara

Darren Coppola and Matthew Bajor have graduated from SHU/NJIT Physics/Electrical Engineering Programs have already accepted employments.

Darren has started his Summer Internship in Applied Physics Department at University of Tokyo.

 Hi Dr. Sahiner,

I just want to keep you updated and let you know what’s going on. First Matt

and I both graduated with our EE degrees this Saturday. Also, I accepted a

position at the government defense organization Forth Monmouth where I will

be in the Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD), Matt is

also going to be apart of this directorate. Specifically within I2WD I will

be apart of the Combat ID group. This group is primarily responsible for

developing technology for identifying our troops and equipment, and to

protect them from friendly fire.

I will also be leaving for Japan on June 3rd and will return August 21st.

There I will be working in the applied physics department at the University

of Tokyo growing and studying clustering on thin films (most likely Si/Ge

clusters forming on Si substrates).

Annick Routhier-Labadie (2008 Graduate) is  Seton Hall’s First Rhodes Scholar and will start her research in Biomedical Engineering at Oxford University in Fall 2008

 Dr. Sahiner,

How are you? I am writing to announce that I have won the Rhodes scholarship out of Canada, and I wanted to thank you once again for your letter of recommendation, as well as your support throughout those three years. Your contribution was vital to this whole process, and I couldn’t have done it without you.

Many thanks,

Annick Routhier-Labadie
