EDST4000 - Course Description

Child Development and Curriculum

This course is designed to enable the student to understand the development of the child, emotionally, physically, cognitively, socially and morally as developed by major theorists. These understandings are connected to effective decision-making with regard to selection of curriculum and teaching approaches.

The student will learn about stages of child and adolescent development with their concurrent characteristics. A thorough understanding of developmental stages and individual differences within these stages enable the teacher to plan for “developmentally appropriate curriculum.”
