This means that simply memorizing the wording & examples  in the book will not be enough. You will need to demonstrate your ability to synthesize and apply what you have read.
The Online Exam (pt2) will  consist of a variety of question types: including- definitions/  terminology, "Short" Answers (1-2 sentences), and at least 1 brief essay.  Also, there might be some multiple choice questions.  Be prepared to explain, to analyze, to compare+contrast, and to demonstrate the concepts.

AREAS-TO-STUDY:  This exam will focus on the areas/chapters listed here--some of which were also part of your Mindtap quizzes. You are also responsible for the information in related slide shows and/or class activities.
As  of now, the planned emphasis for this test will be on the information & related notes pertaining to:  Chapters  11, 12, 13, 14  & the ability to  demonstrate  Speech Construction Procedures.  Also, you can expect to see some of the very basic terms/general concepts  from Chaps 1,2,3,4,15 & 16 (e.g. context, audience-centeredness, dating and indexing via language, perception checking,  high/low context,  conversational quality, extemporaneous delivery, speaking to inform,)
Also watch your e-mail for possible updates.

SUMMARY & ADDITIONAL DETAILS:  - Because both part 1 & part 2 are being treated as "Take Home Tests" (i.e. outside of the classroom]  you can work on these items somewhat at your own pace.  Nevertheless, you should allow time for re-writes and for referring to the video clips & for possible issues with getting online.
Please note, Blackboard sometimes "times you out" when you are working in it for a long time. One workaround is to SAVE (Not "submit") your work at regular intervals.
be prepared to answer the questions IN YOUR OWN WORDS -- not simply repeating/memorizing the textbook's words.
Nevertheless, be sure your answers are concrete & specific.
