due for presentation in class on Weds 11/5 & Mon 11/10 [if poss., 11/3]
|
GENERAL RATIONALE: In addition to our in-class coverage and discussion, you will also continue to explore the dynamics of Family & Family Communication by means of the team (group) projects indicated below. It is planned that each team will have some in-class time for meeting & planning on 10/29 & 11/3. Teams should use additional outside-of-class meetings as necessary. Prior email contact is encouraged. |

END RESULTS:
a 7-10
minute team presentation based on the topic
assigned to the
team. Some presentations will be in the format of extemporaneous
panel discussions on
the specified topic
(well prepared
! - with content linked to text & appropriate outside readings )
. Other presentations will be
in the format of a
planned role play/skit
(which
illustrates
the specified family dynamics principle.)
|
All presentations must include :
1. a vivid, interesting "gimmick" {e.g. video clip, audio clip, pro-con debate, role play, etc.}
2. evidence of equal participation by all members of the team
3. explicit incorporation & explanation [in your-own-words]of relevant terms and concepts from Chapter 12 AND relevant material from other sources - such as Plummer's Principles To Remember-Family (PPTR-F) (i.e. you are actually making a brief, specific & scholarly presentation to illuminate and thoughtfully explore a dynamic about family communication)
Note: if you will need any additional presentation aid equipment, be sure to contact your instructor about appropriate procedures. The media center needs at least 48 hours notice.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Reminder: The goal of your presentation is a combination of (a) TEACHING your classmates about the importance of a designated Chap. 12 concept, and (b) DEMONSTRATING to your classmates how that Family-related dynamic actually operates. These presentations will receive a group-based, "classwork" letter grade. The rest of the details are up to you. Use your creativity!
