specialization is l9th and 20th century French and
Francophone Literature in
particular the works of Gustave Flaubert and Maryse Conde.
My publications include a book on: Exoticism in Salammbo: The
Languages of Myth, Religion and
War and numerous
articles in my areas of expertise.
I am fascinated by African and Caribbean literature and am writing a
book on: "Unbinding Boundaries: The Quest for Identity and Beyond
in Maryse Conde's Works." Currently I am preparing a manuscript
of Flauberts La Tentation de Saint Antoine
the academic year I coordinate the French program and teach advanced
French language courses, civilization, literature and film. I am faculty advisor to the
French Club. In the month
of July, each year, I direct the Seton Hall Summer Program in Paris.
Our students earn three credits for the French Civilization
course which I
teach and three credits from the Sorbonne for a course in French
have enjoyed the opportunity to visit the monuments of Paris,
to immerse themselves in the French culture and language as
well as traveling throughout France and Europe.
