Typography is the soul of written communication. The letter form is the spirit of the word.
Type management and manipulation is the fundamental skill in any design format using literal language -- words. Good typography almost always results in effective design. Poor typography almost always guarantees bad design. A good designer is a typographer first, and everything else second. Design cannot be effective without good typography
