Responding by Keeping in Touch with the Essay Text
According to Ann Carol Brown, whom Fraker quotes in her essay
"Why Women Aren't Getting to the Top," "What you're looking for
[in a senior management position] is someone who fits, someone who gets along,
someone you trust. Now that's subtle stuff. How does a group of men
feel that a woman is going to fit? I think it's very hard."
Fraker goes into some of the reasons why men might feel it's hard to fit in, and
rules out some others. Not being able to talk "straight" with a
women and concerns about how seriously women will take their career are two big
reasons that men might not accept women. To me it sounds like the old
men's club.
