Metatext Questions

1.    Where do you feel satisfied with your draft?
2.    What do you know you want to work on?
3.    What questions do you have for the reader?  Make them specific!  (Not just did you like my essay, but "did the intro pull you in?" "did you find my use of metaphor effective in explaining why affirmative action is outmoded" "I think my conclusion summarized but didn't create a sense of completion; what do you think?"
4.    Do some freewriting about what your next steps might be.

Specifically, consider:

• how connected your argument is from one part of the essay to the next
• how strong your evidence or reasoning is
• how well the intro pulls the reader in
• what kind of ethos you created
