It's not at all like that in VN! The old hard-liners are, of course, communist-to-the-core. The common folks back home remain divided (even if only in silence...the worst division of all), but that's just not the case in Vietnam. It's a great place to go for a good dose of reality!
Unfortunately there have been some returning vets who have not found their healing...often looking for the unreality of restoration. Heartfelt wounds are much like physical wounds. If a buddy stepped on a land mine, and didn't bleed to death, his wounds healed...but he knows his body will never be restored in this lifetime.
Return to Vietnam? By all means...just be realistic!
