From Asiia, on Mon, 01 Dec 1997 23:37:23 GMT (in response to: So you think it's a work of art don't you? more like a piece of sh*t)
Why such anger in these voices? Isn't there already too much ignorance running wild out there? Why must we contribute to such a thing? These photos are more valuable than meets the eye. Shouldn't you know by now, nothing is really what it is? Why such a shallow mind? In a world where informations is at our fingertips, why continue to wallow in the ignorance? Nothing more needs to be said for the people of Vietnam. They speak for themselves. And you speak for yourself. (and obviously there's not much intelligence..just anger)
A country of such beauty. People of such diversity. A land of hidden treasures. Something we all need to observe.
It seems to me, many of us are lost. Or have lost the connection with our dearest homeland. So many years in America have made it just a distant memory. I admit, my feelings of Vietnam is unclear. It's funny how I have so much connecting me to something I can barely remember. At times, I don't want to remember. But now, as I become older, I know: I am a part of Vietnam. There's no denying it.
I admit, I don't remember much nor know much of my own homeland. And yes, that is indeed sad. But I love it and honor it. Because I know I am a part of it. These photos remind me of it. It allows me to trace my roots, the homeland I've never known. So please, get out of the ignorance. There are no exploitations. Just a medium for someone like me, to trace her homeland.
