INQUIRY, NOT RESPONSE

Dear Mr. Hoffman I'm a free-lance writer working on a high-school textbook project for Holt Rinehart and Winston. I've selected your photo "Soldier's Backpack and Weapon" for use with Tim O'Brien's story "Where Have You Gone, Charming Billy?" Folks from the permissions department at HRW will be contacting you about permission to use the photo and, of course, fees. I wonder if you could e-mail or call me with info. on where and when you were born and how you first were drawn to photography. I'm incorporating such biographical information into the component I'm writing, which is a Fine Art Transparency booklet (pictures of fine art from John Constable and Vincent van Gogh to Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg, with info. on the art, artist, and the relationship between the art and the literature selections) that will supplement a Literature textbook.
