My father, Gene C. Sparrow, was killed on October 22, 1967. He was a sheet metal engineer with RMK-BRJ, and was based out of Bien Hoa from July of 1966 until his death. On October 22, 1967, he, along with Chuck Cross, another RMK-BRJ engineer, and five (5) Army soldiers were returning to Bien Hoa from a USO Show in Long Binh. As the 5-ton truck they were traveling rounded a bend in the road near the gate at Bien Hoa, they were hit by mortar fire. The truck left the road, went down an embankment. My father and Mr. Cross were killed, and the five Army soldiers were injured. I am trying to locate those five Army soldiers, or anyone who may have known my father.
