Taken over? Well I've been to Vietnam 6 times since '94 as a tourist. The changes are astounding.Now there are lots of good and cheap restaurants in Hanoi. Lots of funky things to do and the shopping is great. Lots of tourists and expats.Local people are pretty nice, just trying to make a buck you know. We did most of country in 94 and 95, now we just fly down to Hoi An and kick back. Hoi an is nice cheap clean and safe and it just doesn't get any better for me my wife and 4 year old daughter. It's a small town and all the tourists doing the whole country spend a few days there. Taken over? nah If you want to get off the beaten path you can still get very far off in a very short time. GO and mail me. I can't wait to get back in february which is the best time.
